For the third year in a row, we will be hosting our own Lucia choir, and just like last year, we are hosting it in the absolutely extraordinary venue Asylum Chapel in Peckham, south London.

This old chapel is popular for beautiful winter weddings and concerts. Over 5 days we will celebrate this magical Scandinavian tradition, which alongside Midsummer, represents one Sweden’s most iconic cultural traditions.

The event takes place the week before and on the December 13th, when the 400-year old tradition of the ‘Queen of light’; St. Lucia is celebrated with church concerts and processions. On St. Lucia’s day you will see thousands of young girls and boys emerge from the darkness of a Swedish winters day and gently silence the crowds with a procession of light and beautiful singing.

Lucia is an ancient mythical figure with an abiding role as a bearer of light in the dark Swedish winters.

Come and watch our choir perform and enjoy mulled wine and Swedish Christmas treats.
